Battlefield 5 Firestorm gameplay was finally revealed officially yesterday, as developer DICE and publisher EA showed off real footage from the title’s upcoming battle royale mode. Although it certainly takes its cues from competitors like Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 and Apex Legends, though, the showcase also demonstrated a few of the qualities meant to set the mode apart as Battlefield 5 attempts to carve out a niche for itself in one of gaming’s fastest-growing genres....
Universal Pictures has tapped writer Jay Basu to rewrite the script for its Battlestar Galactica film reboot. Red Sparrow director Francis Lawrence has signed on to helm the feature, which has been in the works since 2009. Glen Larson’s original 1978 series has already spawned a spin-off, Galactica 1980, and of course Ron Moore’s seminal 2004 reboot. While the influence of the original remains strong, Moore’s four-season series reached far more mainstream popularity and spawned its own (albeit short-lived) spin-offs in Caprica and the web series Blood and Chrome....
Earlier this year, Marvel Studios gave fans a dose of the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with 12 heroes not only being included in Captain America: Civil War, but also fighting each other. Marvel Studios released a video featuring the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Avengers: Infinity War stars thanking fans for their support over these last 10 years. It’s been a decade since the MCU kicked off with Jon Favreau’s Iron Man, and has since produced over 18 films, bringing some of Marvel Comics’ biggest heroes, villains, and storylines to the big screen. The studio is currently preparing for the release of Avengers: Infinity War, the third Avengers film that will bring together most of the current roster of the MCU, such as the Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, new Avengers, and newcomers Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, and Black Panther....
Bates Motel, the A&E original series based on the Alfred Hitchcock’s 1960 suspense classic Psycho, is about to launch its fifth season. This series focuses around young Norman Bates’ (Freddie Highmore) life living in the motel with his mother, Norma (Vera Farmiga), prior to the events of his classic demise. In the pilot episode Norman is a sweet, if slightly awkward, young man and over the course of the intervening seasons, viewers have had a chance to peel back the layers that make up his complex character - taxidermy and all - and understand why he ended up the way he did....

Marvel Studios is deliberately keeping the plot of Avengers: Endgame under wraps, but based on the recent full-length trailer (and previously released footage) we can piece together an approximate timeline of, at the very least, the movie’s first act. A major clue as to when scenes take place is Black Widow’s hair, which was dyed blonde for Avengers: Infinity War but grows out until her natural red hair reaches shoulder-length in Endgame....
Reports are in that Avengers: Infinity War has set a Thursday evening box office opening record for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The early projections suggest that the movie has earned $39 million in its first evening of wide release, far exceeding the previous record of $27.6 million, which was set by the second Avengers movie, Age of Ultron, three years ago. This is welcome news to Marvel Studios, but not wholly unexpected....
Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man makes an aggressive guest appearance as Avengers: Infinity War gets the Weird Trailer treatment. The first real Infinity War trailer dropped last November, followed by a second trailer that debuted during the Super Bowl. The two clips together teased a ton of developments in the new film, including Thor’s meet-up with the Guardians of the Galaxy. And, of course, the clips gave us our first look at Josh Brolin as Thanos, the cosmic supervillain set to battle Earth’s Mightiest Heroes....
Recent comments by Ubisoft’s Tommy Francois about the nature of politics in Ubisoft games raised a few eyebrows. The VP of editorial talked about Ubisoft’s hands-off approach to political messages in a recent Ubisoft Q&A, stating that rather than providing a commentary of its own, Ubisoft games aim to provide “more freedom for the players” by giving “players all the information we can.” In some ways, this could be seen as a noble goal, by using the medium to showcase a variety of worlds and viewpoints, but this approach has backfired in some cases....
Bad Boys for Life has been one of those long-gestating sequels that seems to be finally getting underway. Writer/director Joe Carnahan (The Grey, The A Team) was previously hired on by Sony to take on this sequel to Bad Boys and Bad Boys 2 - which originally featured Will Smith and Martin Lawrence and director Michael Bay at the helm. Despite various delays (most likely related to Smith’s schedule), Carnahan seems to have been hard at work in bringing these bickering Miami narcotics cops/friends/bad boys back to the big screen....

Peter Sarsgaard is the newest cast member of Matt Reeves’ The Batman movie. Warner Bros. and DC Films are finally nearing the start of a new solo Batman film. After originally being set to have Ben Affleck direct, produce, write, and star, Reeves was brought on board The Batman two years ago. Since then, his intention to use the film as a reboot of the Dark Knight has become evident with Robert Pattinson now set to play Bruce Wayne in the early years of him being a hero....
Although its theatrical run has just about finished winding down, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice continues to be a hotly debated blockbuster.
