Having barely been in theaters for twenty-four hours at the time of writing this, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice has arrived with a tremendous impact. What exactly that impact is, however, depends entirely on who you ask. As a box-office contender, the movie has already been earmarked for a $350 million worldwide haul and has scored the 7th best preview opening in history with $27.7million in Thursday evening grosses.
From a critical perspective, things tend to get a little murkier. While positive word spread fast after the movie’s New York premiere, critics and fans are now quite divided on what they thought of the mighty face off between the two superhero legends. The resulting impact seems to be caught between harsh criticism and undeterred enthusiasm for this monstrous tale.
Amidst all this talk, it does perhaps feel a bit too soon to be contemplating the arrival of Batman V Superman on Blu-Ray/DVD. There’s a tendency - however cynical it may seem – for some to view this move on the part of Warner Bros. as more cashing in at the expense of fans, many of whom are still queuing up to see the movie for the first time or working to make the most out of their $100 unlimited tickets.
Whatever one’s opinion on this matter might be, the fact remains that Batman V Superman has innumerable fans of every age demographic under the sun. Fans want access to everything that Batman V Superman’s entails. With this being the case, the impact of the The Dark Knight and The Man of Steel’s mighty battle will likely continue to register in different ways for some time to come.
