The final countdown has begun. Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice is less than one month from hitting theaters (at the time of this writing). For that reason, many fans have begun to tune-out Batman V Superman news and reveals - in the hopes of preserving as many surprises as possible. The exciting, albeit revealing, “Doomsday” trailer was a wake-up call for a lot of fans who, previously, had managed to avoid major spoilers for the film - since the first two previews were, by comparison, relatively restrained. Some fans accused Warner Bros. of spoiling Dawn of Justice in order to attract casual filmgoers with shots of Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman teamed-up - taking on a monstrous, CGI, Doomsday.

Whether or not the studio adjusted their marketing as a result, the movie’s final trailer erred on the side of caution (and a lot of previously seen footage) - putting Ben Affleck’s aged but still lethal, Batman front and center. Still, while some fans have started backing away from pre-release marketing materials, others are relishing in the flood of details, leaks, and story spoilers that are hitting the Internet ahead of the film’s March 25, 2016 debut - and today we have a new sneak peek to offer-up: a four-page preview of the Batman V Superman prequel comic book “Upstairs/Downstairs.”

Previously, we had reported on promotional Batman V Superman prequel comic books that DC Comics is set to release and now, thanks to the publisher (in partnership with Doritos), fans have an early look at one of those stories.

Check out the cover and four page preview of “Upstairs/Downstairs” below (which debuted on Yahoo! Movies):

The prequel comic book preview doesn’t offer any new information of note (unless readers were dying to know what Bruce Wayne was doing during the unveiling of Superman’s statue); however, it does provide a fun glimpse into the dynamic between Alfred and Bruce Wayne - as well as the Dark Knight’s extra-cynical worldview (cynical even by Batman standards).

Fans of Batman should get a kick out of Alfred and Wayne’s discussion - especially considering that, for as disillusioned as the Caped Crusader might sound, the notion that a monument to Batman would only be a target for psychopaths is actually a pretty sensible conclusion in Gotham City. This Batman has already been through tough times, lost sidekicks, and spent twenty full years policing his city, only to see it fall back into ruin following the catastrophic Man of Steel aftermath.

Anyone who thinks Batman might be paranoid or overly-melodramatic, need only look to the glass case in the bat cave - containing Robin’s defaced crime-fighting suit. Clearly, Batman is well-acquainted with the idea that his enemies would revel in opportunities to harm people who were in some way associated with the Dark Knight - even if that association was walking down a street named in his honor. After all, Batman is just as much an ideal, as he is a flesh-and-blood person and making his mantle a liability, rather than an inspiration, would be one of the most painful blows an opponent could deliver to Bruce Wayne.

That all said, it’s unclear how much insight the full “Upstairs/Downstairs” comic book will provide ahead of Batman V Superman - since this set of panels isn’t particularly revealing. Mostly, they simply spell-out what Ben Affleck’s Batman has already told viewers in the film’s trailers: Superman is a potential threat that can’t be ignored - a potential threat that doesn’t even need to work for his strength. Nevertheless, don’t expect Batman to get all the prequel fun, Yahoo! Movies suggests the comic book will feature both sides of the story - and showcase the ideologies and actions of each hero.

Fans will have to wait until the prequel comic book is available to find out what surprises the digital pages might hold. As stated, the comic is only available digitally - thanks to a promotional partnership between Walmart and Doritos. Want your own copy? The book, written by Christos Gage, penciled by Joe Bennett, inked by Sean Parsons and colored by Hi-Fi Studios, will be available on February 29th as a download to anyone who purchases a Doritos Family Fun Mix multipack at Walmart.
