So far, the arrival of Warner Bros.’ Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice has promised more than its share of enormity and action-packed momentum. As each day passes, it seems as though fans are learning more about not just the battle between Batman and Superman, but also the impact that the movie’s supporting cast will have.

There does appear to be some grandeur surrounding Wonder Woman that fits well with the overall tone of the film and this has now been strengthened with a reveal of the character’s backstory (via CBM), which has been included on the box of a new Batman V Superman collectible Wonder Woman bust. The description reads:

“The world’s first and foremost female Super Hero, Wonder Woman at once embodies the unrivaled force and supreme grace of a born warrior, and the genuine compassion and understanding of a true humanitarian. As a symbol of equality, power, and truth, her natural confidence and unmistakable intelligence make her an unequalled, if unexpected, ally.

Given that Wonder Woman is 5,000 years old, her being an antiquities dealer is rather fitting. Furthermore, because we know Wonder Woman’s 2017 standalone movie takes place during World War I, it’s almost as if her familiarity with war and immense battles is deliberately being emphasised. From this perspective, and as a result of her “genuine compassion” as well as her “humanitarian” understanding, Zack Snyder’s claim that her arrival in Batman V Superman is an “incredibly organic” one gives credence to the theory that her arrival serves as that of peacekeeper between Batman and Superman. After all, if Wonder Woman’s arrival can convince two titans to make peace and join the fight against a greater threat, such an action could seal her fate as a character who steals the show and helps to form the Justice League.

If Wonder Woman’s role does in fact bring about an accord between the two heroes, then she’s done not only the two combatants a great service, but the entire world one as well – a move that will only serve to strengthen both the newly formed Justice League and her appeal as a standalone hero.

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice opens on March 25th, 2016, followed by Suicide Squad on August 5th, 2016; Wonder Woman on June 23rd, 2017; Justice League Part One on November 17th, 2017; The Flash on March 16th, 2018; Aquaman on July 27th, 2018; Shazam on April 5th, 2019; Justice League Part Two on June 14th, 2019; Cyborg on April 3rd, 2020; and Green Lantern Corps. on June 19th, 2020.
