Director Zack Snyder’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice was perhaps the most highly scrutinized blockbuster release of 2016 thus far, as it served to more fully establish the ever expanding DC Extended Universe and set the tone for future DC Films productions yet to come. Nevertheless, Snyder’s big screen take on the Bat of Gotham (Ben Affleck) and the Son of Krypton (Henry Cavill) ultimately became a success at the worldwide box office.

Despite failing to meet its goal of $1 billion in ticket sales, Batman V Superman has subsequently become a hit with the property’s most devoted fan base, and should serve as the basis for many films yet to come from the DCEU. On that note, the movie has proven such an integral facet of the pop-cultural zeitgeist of the moment that it has just been given a full parody treatment by none other than Seth Green and company of Robot Chicken.

In the videos featured above and below, Green and company see fit to playfully mock some of the larger thematic set pieces and established tone from Batman V Superman in a manner entirely in keeping with the usual comic output from Robot Chicken. In mock tribute to the capping confrontation between Batman and Superman from Dawn of Justice, the dueling superheroes’ spat is rendered silly and ephemeral in the video above. Meanwhile, the video below sees fit to play with the idea of Lois Lane’s death with an attributed description that reads, “Dark enough for you, Zack Snyder?”

It’s no secret that Batman V Superman is a thematically moody affair, and that Snyder as a director has proven himself a more than willing participant in establishing a gritty and realistic take on the superhero film genre. That being said, it’s always nice to see such a serious-minded production satirized, and Robot Chicken is perhaps the best program to achieve that end.

Whether you found Dawn of Justice a fitting start to the larger DCEU or not might color your personal take on these two parody videos from Robot Chicken, though it’s likely that most viewers can agree that the first video is thematically on point. Here’s to more parody videos in the future, and perhaps even a feature length special based on the film in its entirety.
