As it turns out, Backstreet Boys member, AJ McLean, is a huge fan of the CBS show Big Brother. The singer has shown his love for the reality show throughout the years, but fans couldn’t have expected how far he’s gone to satisfy his obsession.

One of the show’s former houseguests, Joseph Charles “JC” Mounduix, discussed the singer’s enthusiastic support of the program. JC entered the Big Brother house for season 20 of the hit reality series and his time on the show was fraught with controversy, as he received criticism for his contentious actions toward other houseguests. Still, upon his exit from the show, JC found himself at the helm of his own Youtube vehicle, courtesy of the digital broadcast network AfterBuzz TV.

The AfterBuzz TV episode featured guest Big Brother casting director Robyn Kass to dish on Season 21 of the show. While discussing the upcoming cast, production secrets, and on-set romances, the talk turned to celebrity fans of the long-running program. JC then revealed that one of Big Brother’s biggest fans was a crooner with an apparently strong affinity for heightened personal conflict and game show antics, referring to Backstreet Boys’ AJ McLean. JC spoke about how he met McLean, saying:

McLean has talked about his affinity with Big Brother as far back as 2008 when he apparently watched his first season and got hooked. According to Kass, “He’s such a huge fan. And I brought him to the house mid-summer, and we got to … watch you guys through the glass. Me and AJ were literally, like, creeping on you guys." Given how engaging the show and its contestants can be, it’s not much of a surprise that McLean considers it must-watch viewing.

“So many celebrities watch Big Brother. Do you know who was the first celebrity that I saw right after I got out of the house, that was waiting for me outside? He was waiting for me. It was AJ [McLean] from the Backstreet Boys. He was just there waiting for me … and I was like, oh my God, that’s so crazy.”

Few could have predicted the lasting appeal of a program like Big Brother, particularly in its early installments. And yet, each incarnation of the show brings along with it scores of devoted fans that digest and dissect the live feeds, following the contestants as they pursue endeavors outside of the show. Big Brother Season 20 was almost a swan song for the series, but the upcoming season demonstrates that there is still an appetite for CBS’s outlandish social experiment.
