Christopher Lloyd and Michael J. Fox reunite for a charity event and fans can’t help but feel nostalgic for the time they were Marty McFly and Doc Brown in Back to the Future. The 1985 movie directed by Robert Zemeckis is a genre classic, and the poster boy for any time-traveling story both on the big and small screen. Now, decades later, its stars get together again - this time for a charitable cause.

In the original film, Doc helps Marty get back t0 1985 after he accidentally travels back in time to 1955 where he meets his future parents. To make matters worse, he briefly becomes the romantic interest to his future mother, which obviously will have ramifications for his own future. The pair ultimately succeeds in their endeavor, but their adventures continued in sequels Back to the Future Part II (1989) and Back to the Future Part III (1990). The Back to the Future franchise became so big that it also spawned a series of spinoffs in other media such as an animated series, a theme park ride, comic books, video games, as well as a stage musical.

Given this, Lloyd and Fox have always been attached to the Back to the Future films, as well as their respective roles. This is despite the fact that they both did other spectacular work outside of the the sci-fi movie. So naturally, fans of the time-traveling franchise were ecstatic upon seeing the actors reunite with each other during a charity poker game in benefit of Michael J. Fox Foundation, who has been helping in research to find cure for Parkinson’s disease - something that Fox himself has been enduring for years. Unlike typical reunion images, this one isn’t spawning countless theories of a Back to the Future revival. In this age of spinoff and reboot in Hollywood, many of the classic TV shows and movies are being revisited and repackaged to appeal to a brand new demographics while also hopefully satisfying its original audience. Frankly, it’s a little refreshing that there’s no immediate movement pushing for Lloyd and Fox to potentially do a Back to the Future Part IV, no matter how tempting it is. Seeing them together for a cause dear to Fox’s is already a treat for many fans.

All that being said, the Back to the Future franchise isn’t exactly immune to studio’s tendencies to revive fan-favorite movies or films. Just recently, Tom Holland admitted that there have been talks for a remake. Bolstered by a deep-fake video that teams him up again with MCU co-star Robert Downey Jr. as the contemporary versions of Marty and Doc, the actor reveals that he’s going to try and talk to Downey about it - even if it’s not an official reboot.
