While the search for love is still occurring for Season 24 star of The Bachelor Peter Weber, as he is down to his final three women, two of the women he eliminated were rumored to have beat him to the punch and found love with each other. As quickly as an Instagram post influenced the start of the rumor, it was cleared up just as fast with an Instagram Story post denying it.

Houston native Jasmine Nguyen and 27-year-old Alexa Caves were both eliminated early on in the competition, during week three of the race to win the current bachelors heart. After not receiving a rose from Weber, as evidenced by multiple Instagram posts, it looks like the two have become extremely close, causing speculation amongst fans. In an Instagram post showing Alexa and Jasmine cozied up together and another where the two are seemingly gazing into each others eyes, topped off with the caption “Spoiler: we did find love after all”, rumors began to spark that the couple had found love with each other. The rumor began to spiral more when Bachelor in Paradise alumnus Clay Harbor posted photos of the couple on his Instagram Story. People shared the photos, one with the three of them together captioned “Love Triangle” and a second of the couple dancing captioned “my favorite #bachelornation couple” with a heart-eyed emoji. Further aiding this theory was a previous post from Alexa responding to questions about her sexuality. Soon after the elimination, in a now deleted Instagram post, Alexa shared that she is fluid, having dated both men and women in the past and maintains her fluid identity. Considering everything mentioned, one can see why the Bachelor Nation began to quickly share their excitement and spread the news.

Unfortunately, fan excitement was short lived when Alexa took to Instagram to stop the blossoming rumor. Cinema Blend reported Alexa issued the following statement on her Instagram Story,

“I wasn’t going to address this because I thought it would just blow over, but I see now I’m getting a lot of questions and the story seems to be getting bigger. We don’t want to mislead anyone. Jay and I are not dating,” she wrote on her Instagram Story. “She’s one of my best friends. I’m sorry to get your hopes up! That would be a great story. She really just thought that was a cute caption and didn’t think much of it. Jay is beautiful, kind, down to earth and very straight. Here’s to our friendship.”

Two Bachelor contestants finding love with each other isn’t untouched territory. Both the Australian and Vietnam Bachelor editions have had couples formed outside of the designated star. To the disappointment of fans of the show, this isn’t the case for Alexa and Jasmine. Alexa set the record straight and denied anything more than a friendship with Jasmine. In the process she may have let down some fans who seemed to be in support of the couple, one even suggesting the couples new love secured themselves a spot on Bachelor in Paradise.

And who knows? They could still be up for any of The Bachelor spinoffs. Although Alexa and Jasmine are not embarking on the love fans hoped for, at least they have a loving friendship to thank the show for and hopefully they will continue to maintain that close friendship.
