Bachelor in Paradise’s Kristina Schulman got revenge on Blake Horstmann by keeping him around in Mexico to watch Hannah Godwin and Dylan Barbour’s relationship flourish. Her plan may have already backfired, however.

Hortsmann has become the “villain” on this season of Bachelor in Paradise - a reality competition show that puts former Bachelor and Bachelorette contestants in a beach resort in Mexico to find love. So far this season, he’s hooked up with multiple contestants, including Godwin and Tayshia Adams, and prior to the show, he’d been with Shulman and Caelynn Miller-Keyes. Because of his intimate connections to the different women on the show, Horstmann blew his chance with all of them. Bachelor Nation was fully expecting him to be sent home last night, but during the surprising rose ceremony, Shulman threw him a lifeline.

A lot of Bachelor Nation was shocked last night during the rose ceremony when first, Godwin chose Barbour over Horstmann (even though her connection appeared stronger with Horstmann), and then Shulman kept Horstmann around by giving him her rose. Other contestants couldn’t believe she’d given Horstmann a chance to find love over the other men, like Wills Reid, who were sent home that night. But, according to Shulman, allowing Horstmann to stay was his punishment. Now he’s in his own “personal hell,” she said on the show, and is forced to watch Godwin and Barbour grow closer. Only, that plan may have already backfired.

Following the rose ceremony, Horstmann wasn’t single for very long, before newbie Caitlin Clemmens came along and asked him on a date. The two ended up hitting it off and she didn’t even seem bothered by the fact that he’d had relationships with the other contestants. Clemmens and Horstmann ended up making out in the pool during their date - which didn’t look like a “personal hell.” But, Horstmann did admit he was disappointed in Godwin’s decision to choose Barbour and that it’d be hard for him to move on. (But, apparently not that hard.) He added was finally ready to forgive himself for everything that happened and start actually enjoying himself in paradise.

According to the preview for the next episode, Shulman may have kept Horstmann around for revenge, or she might be interested in rekindling their romance. It looks like once again, Horstmann finds himself in a love triangle, this time with Clemmens and Shulman. Hopefully, somebody new comes into paradise soon, so the contestants don’t have to keep fighting over the same guy.
