In anticipation of a new Bachelor in Paradise episode, a clip previews reigning Bachelorette Hannah Brown’s surprise entrance. Although Brown is now a single woman, it doesn’t appear that she’s come to Paradise searching for love.

Brown’s visit to Mexico so soon after her season finished airing is not unprecedented. In season 5 of Bachelor in Paradise, Becca Kufrin showed up to Paradise, primarily to provide closure with soon-to-be Bachelor Colton Underwood. This opened him up to giving Tia Booth another chance before ultimately breaking up with her. Brown has a dating past with many of the men on season 6 of Bachelor in Paradise and was also close with several women who were on Underwood’s season of The Bachelor with her. She was especially close with Demi Burnett, who came out as bisexual on the show just last week.

In the teaser (via: YouTube channel Annie Marie’s BachelorTV) for the new episode, Brown pulled Burnett aside for what sounds like a serious talk. Her entrance, however, was anything but serious. She’s shown walking into Mexico to an overdramatic soundtrack and a stunned cast. An incredulous Mike Johnson said, “That’s Hannah. That’s Hannah!” When Brown asked fan favorite John Paul Jones how he’s doing, he responded, “I’m doing terrifically well. Thanks for asking.” Brown replied, “I’ve missed you bro.”

After her introduction ended, Brown said, “I really want to talk to Demi.” Their conversation is still a mystery, but the clip then shows Derek Peth, Burnett’s current love interest, stating his concerns to fellow contestant Chris Bukowski. Peth said, “It doesn’t discount anything that we’ve been through to me. It would take something massive for me to feel like I’ve been thrown for some wild loop.” Burnett told Peth in the most recent episode that she had been seeing a girl back home. Instead of responding with jealousy or intolerance, he was grateful that she felt comfortable enough with him to share that information. He repeated that sentiment in the teaser for the next episode, saying “I can’t understand the level of bravery and courage that it took to say that to me.”

What exactly Brown needs to speak with Burnett about won’t be revealed until the episode airs. The season preview already tipped viewers off to the fact that at some point in the season, Burnett will make out with a woman and declare her love for that woman in a confessional. Peth seems to think that Burnett’s past relationship is going to be the topic of discussion among her and Brown.

When it was shown in the preview for season 6 that there would be a same-sex relationship featured for the first time since the franchise first began airing in 2002, it was a hopeful sign of progress. As the curtain is slowly lifted on the future romance, it’s becoming more and more apparent that it won’t be as simple as two women meeting in Mexico and falling in love.
