Fans of The Bachelor believe they have cracked the code of who Peter Weber gets engaged to at the end of the show, and the answer…is not all that shocking. Although Peter claimed he was in love with three women during the latest episode of The Bachelor, there is one woman he clearly seems to have the greatest connection with.

Heading into the finale, there appear to be two remaining women, Hannah Ann Sluss and Victoria Fuller. Madison Prewett has just left Peter, though it’s possible she returns. There is also the possibility that Hannah Brown may come back in the picture at some point. And then, there’s the far-flung theory that Peter winds up with a Bachelor producer. Since this is the first outcome that hasn’t been spoiled, fans have gone to great lengths to hypothesize how Peter’s turbulent journey ends. In the previews, Peter doesn’t get down on a knee. But he has said that he’s happy now, whatever that means. One prediction that has arisen is that Peter gets engaged during the After the Final Rose segment, and it’s to one of the final three women.

According to a Reddit thread (via Women’s Health), Peter proposes to Madison on After the Final Rose. How valid is this take? Can it be considered a legitimate spoiler? You can do the internet sleuthing and determine for yourself. But simply following the narrative of the season, it makes sense. Madison didn’t hop in a limousine after walking away from Peter at the end of last episode, foretelling a possible comeback for the Auburn native. And Peter’s connection with the other two women doesn’t seem strong enough to warrant an engagement. If he is to get engaged, it will likely be during After the Final Rose, which will give Peter time to convince Madison that he’s deserving of her love even after he slept with the other two women.

Madison’s decision to leave made perfect sense to anyone not used to the format of The Bachelor. No woman in their right mind would accept a proposal from a man who had sex with two women in that same week. Peter knew this, but he also was aware that being The Bachelor meant he was uniquely placed in the only position that makes such an act morally forgivable. Madison, however, is one of the few contestants in the history of the show who recognizes the inherent grotesqueness of going through with the process given the intimate moments Peter just shared with Hannah Ann and Victoria.

Time heals, and perhaps Madison will come around on Peter after stepping away. It really doesn’t seem like it will work in the real world with Peter and either Victoria or Hannah Ann. If he chooses one of them, chances are they are broken up by the time After the Final Rose films. That opens the door for Madison to re-enter the picture and re-claim Peter’s heart. It wouldn’t be a completely unprecedented move, as we’ve seen many unconventional endings to the show in the past few years, between Hannah Brown, Colton Underwood and Arie Luyendyk Jr. How exactly it plays out is still a bit of a mystery, even if Redditors believe they’ve solved the puzzle.
