Despite steadily turning out a series of cult classic films since he hit the big time with Shaun of the Dead, writer/director Edgar Wright has had a longer than average break from the screen. The reason for this can largely be attributed to his time spent developing Marvel Studios’ Ant-Man, only to step out of the director’s seat at the last moment over creative differences. This was a disappointment for fans, but it did allow Wright to move quickly on to his next project, Baby Driver, which hits screens later this year.

Wright has previously described Baby Driver as “an action movie that was powered by music.” The film stars Ansel Elgort as the titular Baby (Divergent), a fresh-faced criminal getaway driver with tinnitus, who uses a non-stop playlist of eclectic music to drown out the ringing in his ears. Jamie Foxx (Django Unchained), Jon Hamm (Mad Men), Kevin Spacey (House of Cards), Jon Bernthal (Daredevil), Lily James (Cinderella), and Eiza González (Jem and the Holograms) are set to accompany him.

Though shooting has already wrapped on the film, Edgar Wright took Instagram recently to share the first page of the film’s shooting draft of the script. Though it doesn’t give away any plot details, it does serve as something of a mission statement for the project.

For those unfamiliar, “Baby Driver” is the name of a Simon & Garfunkel song about an inexperienced young man trying to seduce a girl. Considering the film is set to revolve around Baby trying to win over a girl he fancies (Lily James) by getting out of his life of crime, it sounds like quite a bit of the story’s themes will tie directly to the soundtrack. It’s unclear whether the T.S. Eliot quote suggests that the film will also focus, to some extent, on poetry, or whether the poet’s thoughts on music simply jived with the film’s theme.

While Wright has been quiet about which songs will grace Baby Driver’s soundtrack, he has revealed that “there’s about 35 songs in the movie and they range from very famous to more obscure.” It will be interesting to see how much each song influences the plot of the movie, as opposed to simply bolstering the emotions that are already present, as is the case for most films.
