Earlier this year, Marvel Studios gave fans a dose of the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with 12 heroes not only being included in Captain America: Civil War, but also fighting each other. For the time being, this is the biggest ensemble yet in a superhero movie, but Marvel will top themselves sooner rather than later. Avengers: Infinity War will be the culmination of the MCU to this point and so far almost every hero has been confirmed to appear. From mainstays such as Iron Man, Cap, Thor, Hulk, and Black Widow to others such as Doctor Strange and the Guardians, it seems as though just about everybody will be on hand to stop Thanos.

With the Guardians becoming a bigger part of the MCU, that means Star-Lord, Rocket Raccoon, Drax, Gamora, and Groot will get to interact with the Avengers and others. While they first have to deal with Peter’s lineage and potentially the Elders in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, the latest rumor points to Star-Lord having a substantial role for Infinity War and possibly beyond.

Schmoes Know is on a quest this week to spill the beans on upcoming Marvel properties and they have now turned their attention to Infinity War. According to their latest report, Star-Lord will have a “sizable” role “as the Avengers join up with him as they take on a new cosmic threat.” Star-Lord’s appearance is no surprise after it already being confirmed by the Russo brothers, not to mention Vin Diesel confirming the entire Guardians squad will be going into battle.

Star-Lord being one of the main players in Infinity War makes sense to help combine two corners of the universe together. The events of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will likely open the doors to the Guardians becoming more aware of what else is happening in the galaxy. Although there will be no Thanos or Infinity Stones, the inclusion of one of the galaxy’s oldest beings that also happens to be Star-Lord’s father will likely know more about Thanos.

Fans will most likely be overjoyed by more of Chris Pratt in the MCU and seeing him interact with the rest of the heroes, but how exactly him and the Guardians become more involved remains to be seen. Regardless of how or why the Guardians become involved with saving Earth (and the galaxy) it will be something memorable to witness. Even if this report proves to be untrue, Star-Lord will have a role in Infinity War and likely in the follow up as well.
