Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Endgame gets the How It Should’ve Ended treatment. It’s been a month a half since the Joe and Anthony Russo-directed flick hit theatres, and by this time it’s safe to say that everyone who was interested to catch in on the big screen have seen it evidenced by its massive box office haul. So now, fans can openly entertain ideas on how the blockbuster wrapped up.

After the successfully bringing back all those who were snuffed out of existence by Thanos’ snap in Avengers: Infinity War thanks to the Time Heist, Earth’s Mightiest Heroes battle the Mad Titan and his army for a final epic action set piece. They emerge victorious, ensuring a universe free of the villain’s threat. But Endgame’s ending was bittersweet primarily since it wraps up the story of several MCU principal characters. In a brand new fan-made video, however, the creators suggest a few ways on how the franchise can bring back those its lost during this whole Thanos-debacle for a happier ending.

YouTube content creator How It Should’ve Ended visualizes a string of possible ways that Endgame could’ve wrapped up. Clocking in at more than eight minutes, the clip touches on a lot of the film’s narrative including Steve Rogers’ heartbreaking reunion with Peggy Carter in the ’70s, as well as Natasha Romanoff and Clint Barton’s fight in Vormir regarding who gets to sacrifice themselves for the Soul Stone. The video spends the majority of its time, however, tackling how the Avengers could’ve cut their losses by bringing back Tony Stark and Nat since they have the ability to travel through time. Admittedly, not everyone was happy with how Endgame wrapped up the personal arcs of some of MCU’s most beloved characters. However, this was expected considering the high expectations people had for it. Its time travel, however could be established better. The concept is already tricky to incorporate in a narrative with a lot of moving pieces, not to mention the responsibility of culminating more than 10 years worth of stories. This was made even trickier when apparently, the rules of the concept was changed during reshoots as revealed by Tilda Swinton who plays the Ancient One - the holder of the Eye of Agamotto/Time Stone before Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) inherited it.

As illustrated in the video, given the rules laid out by Avengers: Endgame, there are a couple more ways that they can use time travel to put everything back to status quo. Since they’ve cracked the code to the concept, it will be difficult to not revert to the idea when push comes to shove in future MCU narratives and it will be interesting how Marvel Studios works they way around this. In any case, despite the technical loopholes of the movie’s story, particularly how things panned out in the end, many fans are willing to overlook these flaws because overall, it was still entertaining to watch.
