A Hasbro collectible for Avengers: Infinity War has given fans their best look yet at the Infinity Gauntlet worn by Thanos (Josh Brolin).
The Infinity Gauntlet was first teased in Thor, when eagle-eyed viewers spotted the famous artifact in Odin’s vault. Marvel retconned that as a fake, and instead Avengers: Age of Ultron revealed that the Gauntlet has been in Thanos’s possession all along. In this year’s Avengers: Infinity War, Thanos will come to Earth. He has only one goal: To complete the Infinity Gauntlet, by taking possession of the Infinity Stones.
Merchandise for Infinity War is already hitting the stores, and a week ago fans caught a glimpse of the Marvel Legends action figure range. These included a Thanos build-a-figure, an Iron Spider version of Spider-Man, and of course the latest version of Iron Man. Now, though, another piece of merchandise has leaked on to the Internet. It seems Hasbro has also released an Infinity Gauntlet collectible - and it’s already sold out.
Thes images actually give fans their best look yet at the Infinity Gauntlet’s design. It’s a fascinating one, with beautiful stylistic markings running down the Gauntlet’s front and sides. The focus, of course, is on the Stones themselves. It’s uncertain whether or not Thanos will acquire all the Infinity Stones in the film itself; regardless, this collectible shows a full set. The Infinity Stones give off a “pulsating glow,” there are articulated fingers, and the collectible apparently also features authentic movie sounds. It’s sized over 19 inches, and can be placed on a gorgeous display stand.
Unfortunately, any fans who want to get their hands inside this Gauntlet will face a struggle. According to 219 Collectibles, it sold out as soon as it was released. Their website gives it a retail price of $149.99.
Given the beautifully detailed design work, it’s not hard to see why this has sold out so quickly. At the same time, the speed of sales is perhaps an indicator of just how much excitement there is around the release of Infinity War. The film will mark the 10-year anniversary of the MCU, and will see the Mad Titan Thanos confront the combined might of the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy. When Marvel finally released a trailer for the film back in November last year, it broke the record for the most-watched trailer in its first 24 hours. If merchandise sales are any indication, the film remains eagerly anticipated. Fans have invested in the MCU for a decade now, and are eager to see the first three phases build to a head.
